Initial Setup Prerequisites
Before you start gaining insights and strategic value from DigitalCore, there are a few key steps to prepare your environment. This guide will help you get the core data model in place and ensure you're set up for success.
🏗️ What Needs to Be Set Up First?
The following steps are required to start working with your services (solutions) in DigitalCore:
1️⃣ Organisation Setup
You’ll define your organization's structure:
-
Organisation Units (Service delivering units: Business Units, Departments and Teams)
-
Locations (physical or virtual service delivery centers)
💡 These are used to track performance and align insights at each business-unit level.
2️⃣ Roles & Skills
Set up key operational functions within your service model:
-
Roles such as Level 1 Agent, Service Manager, Support Engineer
-
Skills such as language support, technical certifications, etc.
These elements support resource and capacity tracking, and are later linked to actual or planned service delivery data.
3️⃣ (Optional) Strategic Portfolios
If you're managing multiple related services, you can group them into portfolios. This enables strategic visibility across service lines.
4️⃣ Solution Components
Before defining services, configure the metrics and evaluation components:
-
Compliance Metrics
-
Performance Metrics
-
Profit & Loss Metrics
🧠 These components become the backbone of your data-driven service evaluation and reporting.
5️⃣ Solutions (Services)
Once components are in place, define your solutions:
-
Add descriptive metadata (e.g., name, delivery model, region)
-
Link each solution to relevant components (KPI configs, scorecards, commercial terms)
📊 This structure enables real-time insight into financials, capacity, and strategic alignment.
👥 Who Should Perform the Setup?
While setup steps can vary by complexity, we recommend involving:
-
One or more Service Managers for solution and KPI ownership
-
DigitalCore onboarding support (included with subscription) to assist with data mapping and configuration
